PHILLY SCHOOL MEDIA NETWORK
YOUTH JOURNALISM AND ACTIVISM
The Philly School Media Network is a project of the Philadelphia Writing Project in partnership with the Philadelphia Public School Notebook and the School District of Philadelphia. Established in the summer of 2017, the Philly School Media Network currently works with several Philadelphia public schools, including George Washington Carver High School, Henry C. Lea Elementary School, the U-School, and YouthBuild. The Philly School Media Network supports youth in being savvy media consumers and producers, using both traditional and social media platforms, and in exploring journalism as a way to write for social change.
The Philly School Media Network offers a journalism summer writing camp for middle school and high school students who want to learn about journalism and engage in activism for their schools, communities, and city.
